Hideaway Resorts and the two resort islands of Dunk and Bedarra are owned by Pamoja Capital and its two local Australian directors, Rupert Greenhough and Andrew Menzies who bring a wealth of financial expertise to the business.

Pamoja Capital was founded in 2006 to manage the funds of Geneva-based philanthropic group, the McCall MacBain Foundation, and the McCall MacBain family (founders of Trader Classified Media).  The McCall MacBain Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that supports a wide range of social and environmental initiatives primarily in the areas of education, healthcare and the environment, with a strong focus on Liberia and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Rupert is the Managing Director of Pamoja Capital Australia (private equity fund focusing on investments in Australasia). Prior to joining Pamoja Capital, Rupert worked for almost 20 years with KPMG in Australia and the United Kingdom, with the last 9 years as a Partner. Most recently he led the firm’s Mergers and Acquisitions activities in the Information, Communications and Entertainment sector. Rupert worked extensively with Trader Classified Media over much of the last decade, both in Australia and internationally, including China, Taiwan, Spain, Latin America and France and was a key advisor in respect of the company’s global realisation strategy. Trader Classified Media was a listed, multi-national classified adverting business, whose founder and majority shareholder is also the majority shareholder in the island group. Rupert is a past Councillor of the Australian British Chamber of Commerce and is on the Board of a number of private investee companies. Rupert holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Economics and Accounting from Bristol University. He is a Chartered Accountant with both the Institutes of Chartered Accountants in Australia and in England and Wales and is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia.

Andrew Menzies is the Investment Director of Pamoja Capital Australia.  Prior to joining, Andrew was an Associate with KPMG Corporate Finance’s Mergers and Acquisitions group in Australia where, among other transactions, he was a member of the team advising Trader Classified Media on various transactions.  After his time with KPMG Corporate Finance, Andrew worked with UBS in their UK Investment Banking team in London. Andrew was part of the formation head office team of Pamoja Capital when it commenced in late 2006 based in Geneva, Switzerland where he lived until mid 2009 when he returned to Australia.  He holds Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Information Systems degrees from the University of Melbourne and is a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

Each resort has its own management team, over seen by Karen Taylor who is the Group General Manager. Karen graduated Dux of William Angliss Hospitality college and has received both national and international awards for properties under her stewardship. Bedarra is managed by Mark Eletr with a small team of professionals, whilst Dunk Island is managed by David Henry with a much larger team given the size of the resort. Both are very seasoned and highly experienced resort operators. David managed Dunk Island for 6.5 years when owned by P&O and these were certainly some of the islands most successful years in history.
