What an eventful year it has been…
We’re in high spirits at the moment and would like to share the goodwill with you.
Not only are we celebrating one year of new ownership, but we were recently named as Australasia’s Leading Family Resort in the 2010 World Travel Awards – considered to be the Oscars of the travel and tourism industry. We’re very proud of this achievement and will continue to improve and make the guest experience as enjoyable and memorable as possible. To mark these milestones, we have put together some great specials.
The award was accepted from Graham E Cooke (World Travel Awards Founder) on our behalf by elite gymnast and Commonwealth Games TV presenter Stephanie Moorhouse.
The next issue of Dunked will be in 2011 – we hope you have a great festive season and look forward to seeing you on the island soon.

How a Mum blogged her way to Dunk Island.
|
We recently held a competition with Australia’s top parenting website kidspot.com.au where bloggers had to write about the topic ‘family holidays’ which was then voted on by site visitors. The prize was a family trip for four to Dunk Island for 7 nights, including airfares accommodation and meals.
The winner, Melissa Klemke, mum of three and author of Frills in the Hills Blog started her blog as a new year’s resolution in January 2009. A love of cooking and baking quickly turned into an online cookbook featuring over 200 recipes with step-by-step instructions and photos.

“How am I feeling about the prize?” laughs Melissa. “I am beyond thrilled at the prospect of us coming to Dunk Island. My husband and I had to postpone our honeymoon seven years ago when we discovered one week after our nuptials we were expecting.
Less than a year after our first baby, we were expecting twins, and there really hasn’t been time or finances since. So this holiday will be our honeymoon: three kids in tow and seven years late!”

Other News.

We’re very proud to be the first island resort in Australia to have iPads available for guest use. We have also installed WiFi on the resort – not only is it an added bonus for conferences, but also for those who feel more relaxed if they are ‘connected’.

As if we don’t have enough activities already… we’ve got new toys on the island to add to the long list of fun things to do on Dunk: Four shiny new catamarans are now available for guests to use at their leisure.

We’ve installed an adjustable solar heating system for the Cascade pool which allows guest to comfortably enjoy their sundowner cocktails until the stars are out in the sky.

And if that was not enough to tempt you to have a holiday on Dunk, we have just taken delivery of an electric “people mover” that will be used to shuttle guests around the resort. This is a great way to save your energy for all the activities on offer!
