First Year Success for Mission Beach Film Festival

From the 6th-8th November 2009, Dunk Island took part in the Mission Beach Film Festival. Four environmentally focused films were shown with proceeds going towards revegetating the local area. Many could not resist the opportunity to join in the fun and support such a worthwhile cause.

Committee organisers were thrilled at the public response to the inaugural Mission Beach Film Festival.

As part of the festival, Dunk Island screened 4 films; The Fox & the Child, Big River Man, The Age of Stupid and the Cove.

Committee member Sue Clothier reports “Ticketed screenings at Castaways, C4 and Dunk Island attracted an audience of 656 people with a great mix of locals, environmentalists and visitors from Innisfail, the Tablelands, Cairns and Townsville.”
