By Air : Regular flights depart major Australian capital cities for Dunk Island via Cairns with Qantas, Jetstar, and Virgin Blue. Hinterland Aviation operates the 45 minute connecting flight between Cairns and Dunk Island twice daily. Private charter flights to Dunk Island are also available upon request. An email or fax confirmation will be sent prior to your flight. Bring this document and photo id (such as a drivers' licence or passport) as this will be required at check-in. Connecting times If arriving from a domestic flight to Cairns, a minimum of one and a half hours is required between connecting flights. When arriving from an international flight, a minimum of two and a half hours is required - this includes domestic travel on an international flight number. These connection times are required in either direction. A courtesy coach transfer from the main terminal at Cairns Airport to the Hinterland Aviation terminal is provided by Sun Palm. Guests will meet the coach transfer at the Sun Palm check-in desk located in the Domestic Terminal. Note: Guests must advise their connecting flight details 7 days prior to departure. Failure to do so will result in transfers not being arranged. Guests staying overnight in Cairns, are required to make their own way to the Hinterland Aviation Terminal located at General Aviation, Hanger 7, Tom McDonald Drive, Cairns. Passengers are restricted to a total of 23kg including one small carry-on piece of hand luggage not exceeding 4kg. Soft suitcases are preferable. Luggage storage facilities are available at the Hinterland Terminal.
